The lofted straight shot is one of the most elegant and powerful shots in cricket. It is played straight down the ground, usually over the bowler’s head or past the non-striker, and requires good technique, timing, and confidence. To play this shot effectively, a batsman must first focus on correct basics.
Grip and stance are very important. Hold the bat with a relaxed but firm grip, keeping your hands close together. Your stance should be balanced, with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent. Keep your head still and eyes focused on the bowler.
