Baboons
Description
Baboons are primates comprising the genus Papio, one of the 23 genera of Old World monkeys.
One of the 23 genera of Old World monkeys is the genus Papio, which includes baboons as primates. Baboons come in six different species: the chacma baboon, the kinda baboon, the olive baboon, the yellow baboon, and the hamadryas baboon.
These tough Old World monkeys display complex social behaviors, and can live in troops of several hundred individuals. Although currently extinct in Egypt, this monkey can be found in large populations in Ethiopia, Somalia, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. In fact, no other baboon species lives as far north as the hamadryas baboon. The magnificent silver mane and pink face of the adult male add to the unique nature of this intelligent primate.
