Babba Maal at The Tabernacle

On Wednesday 23rd March 2011, WinkBall citizen video reporters George and Tom visited the lively Tabernacle where Baaba Maal played in concert. Baaba Maal is a Senegalese musician and guitarist born in Podor, on the Senegal River. In addition to acoustic guitar, he also plays percussion and has released several albums, both for independent and major labels. In July 2003, he became a UNDP Youth Emissary.He went on to study music at the university in Dakar before leaving for postgraduate studies on a scholarship at Beaux-Arts in Paris. Baaba Maal has come a long way but remains true to his roots. He fans love his music and respect everything that he stands for. Not only is he credited for being an amazing musician, but also for standing up for women's rights, often referred to in his lyrics.
