Audio Books for the Blind

Description
For many years the visually impaired had few options for reading. They must either have a reading partner or learn and use Braille. While both of these options are viable there were drawbacks that allowed the blind reader to slip through the cracks.
Studies began to show a real discrepancy between the sighted and the vision impaired in the area of reading. Many reading partners were not strong readers.
The blind person was not learning the correct pronunciation of words. Slang and bad grammar were often used by a lazy reader. Many poor readers skipped over word they did not know, decreasing vocabulary learning experiences. On the whole, the use of a reading partner was found to be too subjective.
The use of Braille is a wonderful tool for the blind. But it also has disadvantages associated with it. A person must learn Braille before they can begin to read using it.
