DAMIEN is a thirty something nobody who embodies the concept of mediocrity (average looks, nondescript personality, etc). His girlfriend has just dumped him after realising how miserable his nature is.

Working for the Local Council as one of the Fraud Squad’s best investigators, DAMIEN is ruthlessly effective at spying on people – plus he “gets his kicks” out of it. Like a stalker, DAMIEN observes suspected benefit cheats till the moment he attacks, rejoicing at rendering someone else’s life miserable too.

Having noticed DAMIEN’s valuable talents, his cunning MANAGER resolves to coach him, preparing DAMIEN for a notable Olympics-related promotion (which will see his own ulterior political aspirations implemented by DAMIEN).

As the intrigue unfolds and the plot is ready to play through, things don’t go to plan. Unexpectedly, in a manner no one could ever have foreseen, the entire manoeuvre becomes compromised: DAMIEN has fallen in love – and with the woman he is investigating!
