Animal Shelter Testimonials

The first public hearing was held September 14th giving an opportunity for the public and the commissioners to hear testimony on the counties proposal to transfer management of the shelter to the non-profit group FOLCAS (Friends of the Lincoln County Animal Shelter). FOLCAS had Frank Sherkow, a FOLCAS board member, and three people from Heartland Humane Society, a non-profit organization that works with Benton County for animal services. The sheriff had Gina Tapp, former personnel director for the county, Joyce Jenson a former bookkeeper on the FOLCAS board who challenged their budget. Laura Ireland also spoke again expressing concerns over salary and benefits for employees.
