Alison Cassidy - The Final Curtain
3 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
Studied the coffin through
the deepening fog of her dementia
patting her son's hand as if to reassure.
He, wheelchair bound and dribbling since birth,
was oblivious to the sombre ceremony.
The organ sang 'Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring'.
The mourner Masons carried rosemary.
I held her afterwards and told her
how much he had loved her.
