Affliction

Affliction (2021) is an Indonesian horror-thriller directed by Teddy Soeriaatmadja.
The story follows Nina, who travels with her husband Hasan and their children to visit her ailing mother-in-law in a remote village. At first, it seems like a simple family duty, but their arrival stirs up a dark atmosphere within the old house. Nina soon notices strange occurrences — whispers, shadows, and unsettling behavior from her mother-in-law, who appears to be keeping secrets.
As Nina digs deeper, she discovers that the family is haunted not only by supernatural forces but also by long-buried truths that Hasan has hidden from her. The line between madness, grief, and the paranormal begins to blur, leading to terrifying revelations that could destroy them all.
