Absolute Beginners - Tuning

For absolute beginners the topic of Tuning your guitar can seem daunting, however we have many different resources available to us, online tuners, small devices which are very cheap and effective, and I describe the old 'rule-of-thumb' technique of using the "5th Fret Method".
Knowing the names of our strings to begin with, we count up to discover the pitch we want, and the 5th Fret for E-A-D-G and the 4th Fret for B, 5th Fret for E gives us the note we need to tune.
