About Peter Topperwien

Peter Topperwien is a highly motivated and experienced entrepreneur with experience in various industries. He has four decades of professional experience and two decades of experience as a business owner. Peter splits his time between the United States and Australia, where his companies are located. He continues to innovate in his business ventures today.

Before beginning his career, Peter Topperwien attended university at the University of Adelaide. There, he studied law with a concentration in taxation. He received his Bachelor of Laws degree and soon was admitted to practice law as a solicitor and barrister. Mr. Topperwien began working as a tax and commercial law specialist. He later moved to Sydney and started working for a successful merchant banking company. These roles helped give Peter a better understanding of different markets and eventually led him to start his first business.

In 1999, Peter Topperwien noticed that there was a gap in the market for life settlements in the United States. To fulfill this need, Peter founded Life Policies of America, a life settlement manager based in San Francisco, California. Peter was one of the pioneers of developing life settlements and derivatives as a new asset class, non-correlated to other assets. As the President of this business, Mr. Topperwien has grown the businesses and solidified this market.

A few years after founding Life Policies of America, Peter decided to start another business called Collegiate Life Ltd, which is a specialist manager of longevity assets. Peter had developed innovative financial solutions for longevity assets, which require knowledge of disciplines including, actuarial, legal, accountancy and fiscal. As he continued to gain a strong business knowledge and skill set, Peter continued to break into innovative industries.

Peter Topperwien is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Black Stuff, formally Soils North, which he started in 2004. The Black Stuff produces natural organic soil conditioners and its products have been effective in the controlling of Tropical Race 1, a disease that affects bananas. Based in Australia, this company focuses on the local environment and works to improve the local community and preserve The Great Barrier Reef. He was instrumental in development and refinement of many of these products.
