When I saw you standing on your own
I watched as I tried mending,
Minding a life once my own

But you were not like me.
You left all the pieces of yourself
Scattered.

Then I sort of had a rag
Of shadows
Draped around my shoulder.

You however just sat down on the floor.
The pieces disappeared.
Giving up.
By that sourly score.

But its not strength
That failed you
Or that got me through.
It is not faith I had
Or that you lacked.

It was a choice to be made
Giving up
Or going on
Making in the time to come
For yourself
A better day
