Other than various national and International awards, both Zakir Hussain and Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma are recipients of the titles of Padma Shri in 1988 and 1991 and Padma Bushan in 2002 and 2001 respectively. Zakir Hussian being the youngest percussionist to be awarded these titles. Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma's son Rahul Sharma is also a famous Santoor Player.
