L'histoire de Year Long Disaster ressemble à celle d'un scénario de Larry Clark avec l'option «Happy End» : Daniel Davies, fils de Dave Davies (guitariste de The Kinks), rencontra Rich Mullins, bassiste de Karma To Burn et drogué notoire dans une épicerie d'Hollywood en 2003. Ils vécurent un an en colocation, partageant leur temps entre musique et défonce avant de se rendre (toujours ensemble) en cure de désintoxication.
