World Post Day

I remember when we discussed the topics to make documentaries on the World Post Day was almost dropped because nobody was interested in making a documentary on post office and its history. We have always been keen to pick unconventional topics and so I asked Abdur Rauf sb, my Executive Producer, to let me make a documentary on it. We traced the history of letter writing will all its expressions, its use by warriors and monarchs to effectively convey the messages. Then we switched over to poets, revolutionaries, political readers, writers and the working class in the post office to learn how magnificently the art was used. In the documentary you can see Ahmed Javed reading out Mirza Ghalib's letter while Saleema Hanshmi is reading out Faiz's.
