Workers Accidentally Strick Oil And Gas

Oil and gas mixed with soil and rocks shoot out of the ground beside the river in Agusan del Norte, the Philippines on March 3. The dramatic scene was caused after workers drilling the ground accidentally struck oil and gas deposits. It was reported to the country's Energy department for inspection. Local geologist, Florante More, said: ''The old Butuan swampland area is so extensive that it covers not only Magallanes but also includes the Bao-baoan, Banza, Los Angeles, RTR, Sanghan, La Union, and its geography is very closely similar to Brunei Darussalam - swamplands and mangrove areas. No wonder, these areas that have for millions of years under the compacted silt trapped thousands if not millions of tons of former biodegradable materials which had chemically transformed into high-grade fuel emit foul-smelling odor. The black liquid spurting from the ground is unmistakably oil in its raw form that still requires refining technology before becoming fuel for commercial use. We hope and pray that the leadership of the town of Magallanes andthe Province of Agusan del Norte will take steps to invite experts to determine the extent of the deposits and measures to exploit these wealth for domestic economic growth of the Agusanons.''
