Wimbledon increases prize money

MANILA, Philippines – Wimbledon organizers have raised the total prize money at this year’s grasscourt tournament by 40%. Players at this year’s grasscourt Grand Slam, which starts on June 24, will receive a total of $34.4 million. The men’s and women’s singles champions will be pocketing $2.4 million each, slightly more than the prize of this year’s Australian Open winners. -- Mornings @ ANC, April 24, 2013
