William Branham's Shotgun Wedding

When William Branham’s son, Billy Paul Branham, remarried after his divorce, it created huge problems for Branham’s public image. Branham preached harshly against remarriage after divorce until that event. In later versions of his stage persona, Branham claimed that it was ok for men to remarry after divorce, but not women. To avoid public fallout, Branham claimed that Billy Paul’s marriage was annulled, but court records show that May Branham sued Billy Paul Branham for divorce on September 23, 1953.

This was not the biggest issue, however, with Branham’s public image. On his marriage license Billy Paul Branham listed his birth date as September 13, 1934. The cult now lists Billy Paul’s birth year as 1935. If Billy Paul was honest about his birth year, and William Branham married his first wife Hope on June 22, 1934, this would mean that Hope Branham was six months pregnant with Billy Paul Branham when she married William Branham.
