William Branham_ Religious Racketeering
2 Views • Mar 21, 2022
Description
Roy E. Davis was William Branham’s mentor and performed Branham’s ordination into evangelism and “faith healing”. Davis was an official spokesperson and later Imperial Wizard for the Ku Klux Klan. In 1930, the year Branham joined Davis’ religion, Davis was famous in Branham’s hometown (and nationwide) for the first known case of religious racketeering in Louisville KY. Davis was posing as a Baptist preacher at the time, and forcing converts to be re-married (by himself) for a fee of $5.00. (that’s $83.22 in today’s money).
This was more than guilt by association. Not only would William Branham have been aware of Davis’ racketeering and allegations of sexual misconduct, Branham himself took part in the scheme by posing as a “Baptist”, and continued supporting Davis for years to come. It was very profitable; multiple “husky” men were required to carry the boxes of money from Branham’s meetings.
