William Branham - Editing Photographs

Various techniques were used to make William Branham's photographs appear to be "supernatural". In William Branham's signature "halo" photograph, referred to by his followers as the "Pillar of Fire", the original photograph was black-and-white with men sitting in the background viewing William Branham's audience. Later versions of that photograph were edited to be darker, making the men appear less visible. In recent versions, the photograph has been colorized, removing the men from the photograph altogether.

These techniques were used throughout William Branham's ministry in multiple versions of his Stage Persona. Black-and-white photographs capturing light bright enough to overpower the lens were used for "supernatural" claims, while other photographs of the same light were not discussed and often withheld from the public. Over-exposure, light-exposure, and double-exposure photographs, otherwise ruined were used to claim "pillars of fire" or "angels". Some photographs were cropped. Others were resized. Some were even altered to remove the light -- making those that appeared more "supernatural" to seem less "natural".
