Description

While much of the focus has fallen on the leaders of South and North Korea for the third inter-Korean summit in Pyeongyang,... the two countries' respective first ladies are also receiving the spotlight.
Watchers expect South Korean First Lady Kim Jung-sook and North Korean First Lady Ri Sol-ju to connect through the medium of 'music'.
For more on the first ladies of the two Koreas, our Lee Seung-jae has this report.

During the first inter-Korean summit,... the leaders of the two Koreas,... along with their wives... attended a dinner banquet,... shortly after the Panmunjom Declaration was signed.
It was there,... that the first ladies of the two Koreas met for the first time officially.

"I saw you as you crossed the bridge. It was so peaceful."

"I was happy to hear that a good conversation was held with President Moon, and that the summit went well."

While the meeting between the two first ladies only lasted for about 3 hours during the first inter-Korean summit,... the two will spend a much longer time together in Pyeongyang.
Watchers say that both First Lady Kim Jung-sook,... and First Lady Ri Sol-ju will connect through the medium of music,... as the both had been trained as musicians in university.
Among the places Kim and Ri will visit,... is a renowned music college.
Observers say that through their background in music,... the two first ladies will serve an important diplomatic role during the summit period in Pyeongyang.
A visit to a local children's hospital is also on their itinerary.
While their full itinerary has not yet been confirmed,.. watchers say that many will focus on North Korean First Lady Ri Sol-ju,... as North Korea hopes to ride her diplomacy on its path to earn recognition... as a legitimate nation on the world stage.
