Will Libya be Egypt's quagmire?

President Abdel Fattah el Sisi says the international community must intervene in Libya after Egytian jets bombed suspected ISIL targets in the eastern city of Derna. Sisi called the 2011 NATO operation that helped unseat leader Muammar Gaddafi an "unfinished mission".

Libya is already embroiled in conflict, with the country torn between two governments. There have been calls for an international intervention to help put an end to the chaos there.

But could Egypt lead that intervention? And what are the implications for Egypt itself and the region?
