Will Ferrell tackles new language in Casa de mi Padre
Description
Will Ferrell and his cast mates from the new film "Casa de mi Padre" hit the red carpet.
Gently poking fun at the melodrama of telenovelas and spaghetti Westerns, the film tells the story of two brothers trying to save their father's ranch.
A bizarre love triangle ensues when Ferrell's character, Armando Alvarez, falls for his younger brother's fiancé.
Toss in a battle with a drug lord and things get even more complicated.
Ferrell said years of channel surfing helped him come up with the idea for the film.
SOUNDBITE: Will Ferrell, actor, saying (English):
"I think it was from watching telenovelas from time to time, because when it's on TV, we all stop and watch it for a little while because it's such an interesting arc kind of world, and I thought, gosh, to put myself in that kind of world would be really interesting and something you haven't seen before as far as a comedic premise."
Aside from a short stint of Spanish in high school, Ferrell was not fluent and reportedly learned Spanish in 23 days before filming.
So how would his high school teachers feel about his Espanol?
SOUNDBITE: Will Ferrell, actor, saying (English):
"I think they will be thrilled...Finally, finally, the hours of screaming at me, came into fruition, with this movie."
"Casa de mi Padre" hits theaters March 16.
