I breathe, and then the moments pass.
All these breaths define the time
That I have left - short wisps, alas:
Inhale, exhale: these make my rhyme.

Every winter brings the death
Of solstice, soul, or Universe:
Just when gifts are given, freezes
Come for kidneys or for lungs.
The midwinter cold releases
Souls who now must seek the sun.

'Tis never wrong to say 'Goodbye, '
Or say, 'Hello, November sky.'
