Jacinta, put your best shoes on;
There will be a fiesta tonight
I will dance with you,
Since Miguelito is in hiding.

The Guardia Civil watches,
But we must dance, Jacinta,
In order to protect
Miguelito's alibi.

I will pass you a note
Written upon fragile paper
When we perform
The pas de deux.

The note says, 'Flee, Miguel'
But is that a warning,
Or merely my wish
To dance with Jacinta forever?

Will I ever kiss you, Jacinta
Except as some part of
Some subterfuge?
Pretend to whisper to me.

Hide in the mountains,
Hide in the cities:
In hiding, there is no rest,
One never pauses in peace.

O, Jacinta! Jacinta!
May I have the next dance?
I have a message for you:
Miguel has acquired plastique.
