Why was Religion invented?

I believe that Religion was invented to keep the rich and educated in power while exploiting the slaves and the uneducated.
The many Religions, I think, were created as integral parts of economics systems
It worked 10,000 years ago and it works today.
Modern-day religions are closely tied to political systems.
There's a marriage between politics and religion and that marriage works in keeping the uninformed and the ignorant in line.
In the United States of America, White Nationalism would not have been as popular where it not for the endorsement of religion.
