Why is Narendra Modi contesting from two seats?

After the final announcement of contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi constituency, Narendra Modi is in the national capital for a meeting with the top BJP leaders so as to decide whether he will run for the upcoming elections from his home state Gujarat and from where. The decision is likely to be announced today.
With BJP claiming that it is because of Modi that their party has been able to garner such a huge limelight, then why does the Gujarat CM wants to contest in the upcoming elections from two seats despite so much popularity? Also, they have always boasted about the Modi wave in the country, projecting him as the brand of BJP then does this mean that no other face except Modi would be able to shell out votes in UP? Modi, who has been the talk of the day, needs two seats just because he lacks faith in other party leaders?
