Why Antarctica's Coast Is Developing Even More Green Algae

Every summer, algal blooms blanket parts of the Antarctica Peninsula's coast.
Now, researchers say those blooms are likely to expand as climate change continues and Earth becomes progressively warmer.
According to HuffPost, British scientists have put together the first large-scale map of green algae across the area.
Green snow algae is found where summer temperatures are above freezing, but still cold enough for there to be snow.
It’s also more abundant in areas inhabited by animals like penguins and seals, whose feces fuel the algae’s growth.
