Blood group compatibility is necessary for blood transfusion. According to ABO Blood type system there are four blood groups named A, B, AB and O. All four groups further divided into positive and negative blood. Blood group AB positive can receive blood from all eight groups so this group is called universal recipient and blood group O negative can donate blood to all eight groups so is called universal donor.
