Whitney Myers - Stop and Read

For twenty years I have been standing here,
I never leave my corner, my very own spot,
Watching many of them come and disapear,
But let me tell you a story, about a time that will never be forgot.

People usually listen to what I have to say,
But this one was different from the others,
For this teenager and young girl will not live another day,
I just stood here watching their crying mothers.

I tried to make her come to a hault,
But over the years I let myself get grungy,
I feel like this is all my fault,
Because she couldn't see me.

Now people will see me and stop,
And me shining brightly with no moss,
And when I was cleaned off by the cop,
He also placed beside me a little pink cross.
