As a kid, if you ever attempted to dig a deep hole at the beach or in your sandbox, you were probably told that that’ll go “straight to China.”
According to Lifehacker, your antipode, or opposite point, isn’t always going to be a place in China! As a matter of fact, the antipode of pretty much anywhere in the continental US ends up being in the Indian ocean.
Other points of interest may surprise you. Hawaii’s antipodes fall in Africa, Meanwhile, the opposite of New Zealand is France.
