Until the middle of the 20th century, professionals mainly used ground weather stations to collect as much atmospheric data as possible. Since the Second World War, new methods have been introduced: aerial observations. Then came the development of radars and meteorological satellites. But ground-based meteorological surveys are still a very effective method for studying these atmospheric phenomena.
