Description

Hello everyone, Ebyte here.
We often mention bandwidth, but do you know what bandwidth mean?
One meaning is that bandwidth originally refers to the frequency bandwidth of a signal. The bandwidth of a signal means the frequency range occupied by various frequency components contained in the signal. The unit is Hertz (kHz, MHz, etc.). In the past, the main line of communication transmitted analog signals, therefore, the signal frequency band range that the communication line allows to pass is called the line bandwidth (or communication frequency band).
Another meaning is that in computer networks, bandwidth is used to represent the ability of transmitting datas of the network's communication lines. So network bandwidth represents the "highest data rate" that can pass from one point in the network to another in unit time. The unit is b/s, and sometimes thousands (K), mega (M), giga (G), tai (T), etc. will be added before the unit. The descriptions of the two "bandwidths" are essentially the same. The wider the "bandwidth" of a communication link, the higher the "highest data rate" it can transmit.
