Hi, I’m Nola Aronson from Advanced Audiology. A lot of people come in and they ask me “what does a hearing screening reveal?”

I thought I would tell you something about that today. After we put you in the sound booth and we test your hearing, we come up with a graph called an Audiogram that looks like this. We have red circles. The red circles are for the right ear. The blue X’s are for the left ear. The first thing I go over is what is normal hearing. Normal hearing is in this purple area up here. Anything below the purple area is a hearing loss. So now, if it shows that you failed the hearing screening, as in this case, now we don’t really know if this is permanent hearing loss or whether it is medical problems. In order to determine that, we need to do a diagnostic evaluation. The hearing screening gave you a baseline. It told you where things were at. A diagnostic evaluation is more in depth and it’s very important, but the insurance company that you have will pay for a diagnostic hearing test.

If you’re really looking for a solution to your hearing problem, you can contact me right now for a free hearing screening so we can see what the problem is. In some cases, it can be a wax build-up inside the ears that may not require any hearing aids at all, but you won’t know until you have a hearing test. To schedule a free hearing screening, call us today at the number below on your screen.
