Who is this

Who is this who carries my soul,
Who is this that keeps out the light
Who is this that steals of the sun

Shadows deep and swallows whole

Who is this who has drawn out my future
Who is this who eats of my heart
Who is this that takes of my breathing

No conscience at all and lives for stealing

Who is this that dwells in my thoughts
Who is this that hurts more anything
Who is this that’s grabbing my throat

It’s a winding road- shadows will always follow
If I allow him the depth of my heart he will swallow
I am fearless now of his pain
But the dark memories will always remain

I allow myself to question who is this?
If I am just me, he will never exist.
