Weekend Storm Assault: 10 States Face Rain and Flooding

The National Weather Service has issued a warning that intense thunderstorms will persist from the southern Plains to the Midwest until Saturday, bringing large hail, wind gusts reaching 70 miles per hour, and potential tornado activity affecting ten states. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee are all at heightened risk for flooding as a sluggish cold front hampers the departure of the storm system. Some areas may experience an additional three to five inches of rain on already saturated soil. The Ohio Valley is set to endure another wave of severe storms on Saturday afternoon.
