At Nevermore, Wednesday quickly becomes entangled in a series of mysterious events and deaths that haunt the academy. Driven by her natural curiosity and a knack for solving mysteries, she tries to uncover the secrets of Nevermore, including a long-buried family mystery that links her to the academy's dark history. Along the way, she clashes with classmates and authority figures, while also beginning to discover her own supernatural powers.

With the help of her unusual friends and allies, Wednesday slowly unravels a conspiracy involving monstrous creatures and a series of murders in the nearby town. Her journey is one of self-discovery, where she learns more about her unique gifts and the importance of friendship, all while staying true to her gothic personality.
