Wealth Management Booms
Description
Wealth management firms and large banks with wealth management divisions saw strong gains in the third quarter. In addition to new assets entering the market, clients have sought to borrow against their investment portfolios, pushing gains for these banks that much higher. Morgan Stanely ($MS@US), J.P. Morgan Chase ($JPM@US), and Bank of America ($BAC@US) reported double-digit growth in these business segments. Most wealth managers noted that securities-backed loans drove growth over the past 3 months. J.P. Morgan stock rose over a percent, Morgan Stanely rose nearly 2 and a half percent and Bank of America stock rose nearly 2 percent as news of improved earnings broke.
