सिकंदर महान (Alexander the Great) इतिहास के सबसे प्रसिद्ध विजेताओं में से एक माने जाते हैं। उनका जन्म 356 ईसा पूर्व मैसिडोनिया (Macedonia) में हुआ था। वे मैसिडोनिया के राजा फिलिप द्वितीय के पुत्र थे। सिकंदर ने मात्र 20 वर्ष की आयु में राजगद्दी संभाली और अगले दस वर्षों में उन्होंने ग्रीस, मिस्र, पर्शिया, और भारत तक अपना साम्राज्य फैला लिया।
उनकी सैन्य रणनीति, साहस और नेतृत्व क्षमता इतनी अद्भुत थी कि वे इतिहास में “अजेय योद्धा” के रूप में प्रसिद्ध हुए। कहा जाता है कि सिकंदर ने कभी कोई युद्ध नहीं हारा। वे अपने विजित क्षेत्रों की संस्कृति और परंपराओं का सम्मान करते थे और “विश्व नागरिकता” (Cosmopolitanism) की सोच को आगे बढ़ाते थे।
भारत में उन्होंने 326 ईसा पूर्व झेलम नदी के किनारे राजा पोरस से युद्ध किया। यह युद्ध कठिन और ऐतिहासिक था, जिसमें पोरस की वीरता ने भी अमरता प्राप्त की। सिकंदर का जीवन मात्र 32 वर्ष का था, लेकिन इतने कम समय में उन्होंने जिस विशाल साम्राज्य का निर्माण किया, वह आज भी अद्वितीय माना जाता है।
सिकंदर का जीवन हमें सिखाता है कि दृढ़ इच्छाशक्ति, साहस और विजन के साथ मनुष्य असंभव को भी संभव बना सकता है।
