Harrowing footage shows an elderly woman's tragic final moments as she steps inside her smoke-filled flat before being overcome by fumes - just SECONDS later.

CCTV shows the woman, in her 70s, opening the door of her ground floor flat to be met by thick smoke billowing into the communal hallway.

The woman steps inside the apartment but is overcome by fumes moments later.

The video then shows firefighters wearing gas masks breaking into the property before one of the crew carries the woman’s lifeless body outside.
