What can concert goers expect to hear at a Von Shakes gig?

Well....some fans have described it as 'melodic rock', while others agree that it's a combination of 'blues, indie, alternative and classic'. But, if you ask most people, they'll simply tell you....it's a mix of 'high-energy riffs, guitar driven licks, rock solid hits and a pair of broken sticks'.

Von Shakes began their ascent into the Irish music scene at the end of 2007 when they hit K9 Studios in Deansgrange, Dublin. What followed was three days of concentrated, meticulous recording and the result.....their debut EP Mind Your Head. Legendary 2FM DJ, Ian Dempsey, was quoted as saying [this is] truly great stuff after playing one of their tracks live on his breakfast show.

In December 2008 the band reached the Finals of the King Kong Club in Pravda but were narrowly beaten into second place. The judges heralded the band as one of the best live acts in a long time. As well as this, VS have played in some of Dublins top venues such as The Button Factory, Whelans, The Academy 2, The Village and Vicar Street, where they competed in the Irish Final of the Emergenza Festival in June 2009.

The lads are now gearing up for a hectic schedule in anticipation of their debut album, 'The Routine', which is set for a Spring 2010 release. And after a successful showcase of all the album tracks in The Academy 2 last October, fans are eager to get their hands on a copy!

With an ever growing list of credits to their name including performances on the NEARfm Sessions, a residency in the world famous Captain America's, an appearance on Dublin's award winning BalconyTV, the Top 15 of Hot Press' the Next Big Thing and successful trips to London, Germany and Russia.....Von Shakes are definitely living up to their reputation as one of Ireland's most promising new bands.
