Volcano halts UK premieres
Description
Airlines and holidaymakers are not the only ones being affected by the Icelandic volcano ash. A host of premieres scheduled to take place here have been scrapped as US stars are unable to travel to the UK.
Miley Cyrus was due in London to launch her new film. But organisers said in a statement: "Due to the current flight restrictions over the UK, Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth and the Director Julie Anne Robinson will no longer be attending the European Charity Premiere of The Last Song on Tuesday 20th April. 2010."
"The screening of the film, in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, is still going ahead for ticket holders at the Empire Leicester Square," they added.
A number of other movies and stars have also been hindered. Demi Moore's European promotional tour for The Joneses has been scaled back and now won't include England.
Paramount Pictuers and Marvel Entertainment, who are behind Iron Man 2, have now moved their world premiere from London to LA. It means film fans on this side on the Atlantic will miss out on the chance to see Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mickey Rourke walk the red carpet.
