Visiting Beijing's Nanluoguxiang
Description
In the centre of the Chinese capital's hustle and bustle of city life, there's an ancient yet well-preserved area that's no stranger to huge crowds either. It's called Nanluoguxiang.
Literally translated, it's 'South Gong Drum Lane'. The street stretches across approximately 800 metres, and here you can find examples of traditional Chinese architecture.
Nanluoguxiang was built back in the Yuan Dynasty. But its name was given to it in the Qing Dynasty, and that was around 1750. And while it's one of Beijing's oldest streets, it also has some modern elements infused.
