Description

So weary and tired as I take steps to return to this place
Almost without energy to climb the stairs of spiral grace
Fear and uncertainty from within walls of haunted flow
Longing have I been to find an exodus from this inferno

When the little voices come in the middle of the night
Little children’s giggles yet a sound without a sight
As I am forever being watched as eyes settle upon me
An apparitions spy as I beg them to just leave me be

Dancing late in walls and my possessions overturned
And not a moments peace or silence thus so spurned
As the shivers so find the cold deep within my spine
Travelling to prickles of hairs upon this neck of mine

Drowning the drink I pour myself almost constantly
To drown out the impartiality of my senses gravity
Which earths these spectral creatures to my bosom
When fingers tugged at my clothes so cumbersome

My eyes that water and the nose that runs with fear
As I know but cannot envisage the motion they steer
Is there no rest from this? Is there no way to be free?
Why do they haunt me so? Why do they bother me?

When I rise the next day and belongings are scattered
Making clear to me my living world has been shattered
And begrudge me sleep when they peer at me so near
All night long I sense them watching me to feel fear

Of what they might really be under darkest shadows
Of little glimpses as I turn to see only broken brows
Which is my own reflection staring back to my face
Noise from the corner of the room my heart does race

So many years and so many months as so many days
Have they held to me of spirits reality is now a haze
Whispers I barely know of words they speak to see
That they’re watching me, watching me, watching me
