There are over 900 years of history to this enormous domain. Although there is no charge for the visit, the domain is closed during the winters, and you must join a guided tour, led by a human who speaks French. In order to keep the place "running green" and unspoiled by modern things such as waste bins and handrails, you are not free to roam here, and dogs are no longer permitted, even on leashes.

The tour takes about two hours, is not suited for those who have mobility issues, and these negatives being stated, this is a wonderful place and well worth seeking out.

It is about an hour's drive from Paris, is well-indicated, there is a working organic farm, many gardens, buildings, virgin vistas which have not changed in centuries, et cetera.

The château was constructed in less than five years by Tillet and both he and the domain were, incredibly, spared during the first French revolution in the 18th c. This place is incredibly intact.

The history of human inhabitation in this area is fascinating, the details and vestiges of the Medieval village and fishery which was here are riveting, and there are many social, arts and cultural events and programs here.
