Since its first iteration in 1927, the National Cherry Blossom Festival has celebrated the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo to Washington, D.C. Today, the commemoration is one of the country's largest celebrations of springtime, drawing more than 1.5 million people across four weekends.
