Vicky Biorseth - Pain

I can see Pain coming-he is on his way
Not here yet, he moves slowly, in no hurry
Pain looks like a big black blob-no real form
White beaty eyes and a black thin, smirky grin
I see him peek out from behind a tree or a car
Sometimes when I close my eyes, there he is
Eye to eye, no words. Just that grin
He is horrifying

Do you know why he grins, because he was invited
I knew he would come with my choice
Should I have chosen differently, Well...
I wouldn't have known how to choose differently
A different path would have brought Pain's brother
Lonliness or his sister Dispair
What kind of choice is that really?

So what do you do with Pain when he finally arrives?
You embrace him, look him in the beaty eyes and say 'Welcome'
You sleep with him, you feed him
You make him as comfortable as possible, and then one day
Pain is replaced by Mercy and you are free
