Could we be lovers?
for a moment or two,
Cuddle up together like sweethearts do.

Could I pretend we’re devoted, sincere
And don’t think of others when the darkness draws near

When you leave i’ll imagine that knowing smile
That you’ll return in a little while,
With the flowers you saw in the gardens near the sea
That you picked on a whim when reminded of me

could we go to brighton, buy uncoordinated things
For when we have parties and invite all our friends

Could I pretend the lies are really true
and you haven’t got another love waiting for you.
Lets stay at home today, I will whisper quietly
And you will remain lying next to me.

Could I forget the pain and the sorrow
Of knowing you wont return tomorrow

Could we be lovers, let me know when your free,
And i’ll pretend you’ll be waiting for me.
