Venezuela Extends Colombia Border Closings

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that further border crossings with Colombia will be closed and additional troops deployed to the effected areas as part of the government's efforts to combat smuggling and paramilitary activity. At a mass rally in Caracas in support of the government's measures, Maduro also called for the creation of a South American Truth Committee to combat media manipulation. teleSUR
