Description

My precious Dad died today
Thought I would brag about my inheritance
A fitting time I believe to tell everyone
What a bounty he left me.

I have abundant amounts of family history
This I thought I would never have.
I have stacks of pictures of relatives
That I never met, but now feel I have.

I have many accounts that overflow
Filled with precious memories
I will count them daily,
Hold them close in my vaulted heart.

My Dad filled my soul with many thoughts
Some he held stored away just for me.
He told me to fill my mind with all I wanted
Greedy me, I took it all.

I got a million hugs and kisses
Held his hand and squeezed real tight
Always told there was more if I ran out.
I always returned for seconds.

At the end just before he died,
He gave me my greatest treasure
He told me that 'he loved me'.
As he always did when we talked.

You see my inheritance was unexpected
I was with my Dad three years, that I can remember.
To be given so much in such a short time,
But he insisted on leaving me 'well off'.

Thank you Dad.
