Van Cleef are an Irish rock band who formed in 2006 with the initial intention of having some fun and making some noise. However, as the band spent the next few months working on the 400+ songs of singer / songwriter Diarmuid Feather, they discovered that they had built up a tight focused sound; based on their love of loud hard-edged music - mixed with an unashamed affection for pop hooks, stadium rock behemoths and silver-tongued crooners.
The band soon found themselves performing their songs in public and they spent the rest of the year performing increasingly confident shows around Dublin, willing to go anywhere and play to anyone, whilst building up a loyal following through a powerful live sound and an ever-growing list of strong tunes.
2007 has seen the band playing as many shows as possible, (including outings in The Sugar Club and a headlining slot in The Village), culminating with the release of their debut EP 'No Shame' in October. A hard, fast, heavy record, yet still retaining their pop sensibilities, 'No Shame' is a high-adrenaline 4-song set, packed with pounding riffs, thunderous drums and searing vocals. It remains a tantalising taster for their forthcoming debut album, due in 2008.
